Accordingly most of the companies are strong in only one of the two areas with Samsung being the only exception. The new companies are facing the problems and are trying to improve their product quality to meet the challenge and stay in the market for a long period. Samsung:

It was founded back in 1969 as Samsung Electric Industries, Suwon, South Korea-headquartered Samsung Electronics. This company today makes everything from televisions to semiconductors. It released its first Android smartphone in 2009,along with the launch of the first Android tablet back in 2010.Samsung with a market share of 25.3 percent was listed the second position in the list of mobile handset makers in India. In 2011-12 an aggregate revenue of INR 7,891 crore was earned that was 38 percent more than the 2010-11 figure of INR 5,720 crore.

Micromax:

Micromax occupies the third position in market share of 6.3 percent. In 2010-11 the total revenue was INR 2,289 crore and in 2011-12 it decreased by 14 percent to INR 1,978 crore. Micromax has also made its place in SAARC markets and is trying to explore in new markets like Russia over the past year.

Motorola:

The mobile phone division of the Motorola is now referred to as Motorola Mobility. It provides personalized information which satisfied the various necessities of the clients both in their homes as well as when they are on the move. The first phone to use the newest version of Google’s open source OS, Android 2.0, was released on November 2, 2009 as the Motorola Droid.

BlackBerry

BlackBerry is in the 4th of the leading mobile handset manufacturers of India and a share of 4.7 percent in market. In 2011-12 its aggregate revenue amounted to INR 1,460 crore, which was 25 percent lesser than the 2010-11 figure of INR 1,950 crore.

Karbonn

Karbonn Mobiles has a market share of 4.3 percent and is listed as 5th position in the list top mobile handset manufacturer. In 2010-11 the company earned INR 1,004 crore,in 2011-12 it incresed by 32 percent to INR 1,327 crore.

HTC

HTC has a market share of 3 percent which places it in the 6th position in the list for top mobile handset manufacturers of India. In 2011-12 the total revenue was INR 923 crore, which was 105 percent more than the 2010-11 figure of INR 450 crore. it was founded in 1997 as a laptop manufacturer,Taiwan-based HTC soon began making smartphones based on Windows Mobile and Brew. Its first commercial Android phone , the HTC Dream, in 2008 was released and its a manufacturer of both Windows and Android based smartphones. HTC re-entered the tablet market with the Google Nexus 9 in 2014.

Sony

AB is a mobile phone making organization whose head office is at Tokyo and is known as sony mobile communication and it aslo operates in many countries including India. As per financial statistics from the third quarter of 2012, it occupies the third position with regards to market share in the world among mobile makers. Its major products are the BRAVIA and XPERIA ranges.

Spice

Spice is in the 7th position with a total market share of 2.5 percent. In 2010-11 its revenue amounted to INR 920 crore that went down by 14 percent to INR 790 crore in 2011-12. Spice introduces firefox smart phone, a smartphone which is powered by 1GHz processor and Firefox OS.

LG

LG has a 2.5 percent share in the Indian market for mobile handsets which places it in the 8th spot. In 2011-12 it had garnered a total revenue of INR 780 crore, which was 57 percent less than the 2010-11 figure of INR 1834 crore.

G’Five

G’Five has a market share of 2.1 percent, and is placed 10th in the list for leading mobile handset makers of India. In 2010-11 it had earned total revenue of INR 1,326 crore, which went down by 49 percent to INR 670 crore in 2011-12.
